When the Admin Approval Mode is enabled in Windows, the local administrator account functions like a standard user account with the ability to elevate privileges without logging on by using a different account.

  1. Click Start
  2. Type Run
  3. Press Enter
  1. Type gpedit.msc
  2. Click OK
  1. Browse to Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
  2. Select User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for the Built-in Admistrator account.
  3. Sign out and sign back in.
